Infertility in Women

You Are Not Broken: My Journey Through Infertility & Healing Naturally

Hello my SunnySprigs family,

Today I just want to connect with you all and talk about something that is going on in my life and how I am overcoming it. I want to first say this infertility is not your fault. Your body is amazing, and you are too.

Hi, my name is LaDavia. I am the owner and founder of SunnySprigs Herbal Tea. I am also a Functional Nutrition Counselor and Herbalist. I have a true passion for supporting and healing the body naturally no medication, no surgeries just taking things slow and steady with food, sleep, herbs, movement, and most importantly, my faith in God.

My husband and I got married on October 25, 2024, and we decided it was time to start trying to have a baby. When the first month went by without conceiving, then three months, then six months, I started to feel like my body was failing me and that I was failing my husband. I became angry, envious, frustrated, and overwhelmed. My relationship with God and myself felt challenged because I kept asking, “How is my body supposed to be equipped to perform this miracle, yet here I am struggling?” It just didn’t feel fair.

In October 2025, I began the process of enrolling in school to become a Functional Nutrition Counselor, and in that course, I learned so much about the body it’s truly incredible. Now I want you to look at your body like a tree: strong, firm, and built on a solid foundation. But each branch represents something that may be imbalanced in your body. The more branches there are, the more symptoms and concerns begin to show.

A lot of times we hear doctors say, “We have to get down to the root cause,” but the truth is, there is rarely just one cause. Most of the time, there are multiple root causes. That is the key word…multiple.

When it comes to infertility, we have to look closely at our hormones, including androgens, testosterone, progesterone, and even oxytocin. When these are imbalanced, it can show up in many ways fatigue, unexplained weight gain or loss, mood swings, low libido, skin changes like acne or dryness, and irregular cycles. Other signs can include hot flashes, night sweats, hair loss, sleep issues, vaginal dryness, and increased anxiety.

Many of these symptoms are often labeled as conditions like menopause, cystic fibroids, infertility, or polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). If you have experienced any of these, you are not alone. Often, we are told these symptoms are “normal” for women because of hormones but just because something is common does not mean it is normal.

If conventional medicine were more aligned with holistic approaches, there would be a deeper understanding that the body is interconnected. Our bodies work like a domino effect when one thing is off, it can trigger multiple imbalances. And sometimes, it feels like those dominoes just keep falling.

The first step in increasing your chances of fertility is leaning into your faith, because this journey is not always easy. It’s also important to not be hard on yourself. Give yourself grace. Accept where you are, forgive yourself, and then move forward with intention.

From a functional nutrition perspective, supporting fertility starts with nourishing your body with whole, anti-inflammatory foods, prioritizing quality sleep, managing stress, incorporating gentle movement, and supporting your liver and detox pathways. Now let’s talk about why these actually matter.

When we nourish our bodies with whole, anti-inflammatory foods, we are giving our cells the nutrients they need to function properly. Chronic inflammation in the body can disrupt ovulation, hormone signaling, and even egg quality. Foods rich in healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals help regulate insulin, support hormone production, and create a more balanced internal environment for conception.

Prioritizing sleep is just as important. While we sleep, our body repairs, restores, and regulates hormones. Poor sleep can increase cortisol levels, which directly interferes with reproductive hormones like progesterone and estrogen. Without proper rest, the body stays in a stressed state, making it harder to support fertility.

Managing stress is key because chronic stress keeps the body in survival mode. When the body feels unsafe or overwhelmed, it will prioritize basic survival over reproduction. This can delay ovulation, disrupt cycles, and create hormonal imbalances. Supporting your nervous system through prayer, stillness, and intentional rest allows the body to feel safe enough to function properly.

Incorporating gentle movement, like walking or strength training, improves blood flow, supports insulin sensitivity, and helps regulate hormones. Movement also helps reduce stress and supports the overall function of the reproductive system without placing excess strain on the body.

Lastly, supporting your liver and detox pathways is essential because the liver is responsible for metabolizing and clearing excess hormones especially estrogen. If the liver is overburdened or sluggish, hormones can build up and become imbalanced. Supporting the liver with hydration, nutrient-dense foods, and herbs like dandelion helps the body properly process and eliminate what it no longer needs.

When all of these systems begin to work together, the body moves back into balance and that is where healing and fertility support truly begins.

These foundational steps help bring the body back into balance and support healthy hormone function.

This is also why I created my “Her Inner Glow” blend. This tea was designed to support women’s hormones and overall reproductive health. With ingredients like red raspberry leaf, spearmint, dandelion, and vitex, this blend helps support hormonal balance, liver function, and the body’s natural rhythm.

I want to leave you with this I am here with you. I see you. I understand you. And I will be here to support every last one of you on this journey.
